Cheryl Lockhart BSc (hons) MCSP

Since qualifing from the University of Birmingham 19 years ago in 2006, I have amassed a wide range of skills and experience in the NHS, private and charity sectors.

My experience includes Musculoskeletal Out-Patients, Neurological rehabilitation of both adults and children, Orthopaedics, Learning Disabilities and Rehabilitation of the Older Person, previously known as Geriatric Rehabilitation.

I also have personal experience of living with a chronic health condition having contracted a water-borne infection whilst living in Brazil. Subsequently, I am able to fully empathise with anyone suffering from chronic pain, fatigue and symptoms that aren’t easily diagnosed by the traditional medical model.

As a result of my own health experiences, I developed a keen interest in ‘lifestyle medicine’ which led me eventually to studying with SIRPA, an organisation that equips clinicians to work with chronic pain & other persistent conditions, utilising a scienticially proven mind-body approach which importantly encompasses education and emotional wellbeing. Using a biopsychosocial model of care - treating the whole person not just the painful part - has been transformative both for me personally and for my clients. The above all supporting my belief and personal experience that a holistic approach to health is crucial in achieving optimal health outcomes for anyone and everyone.
